SDCR Rm 206
Note: User files left on AT2D Lab computers will be deleted. Back up your files and delete from computer before logging off.
It is recommended that you work on files stored locally on AT2D Lab computers (as opposed to working off of an external or usb drive), this will improve performance and reduce the chance of your file getting corrupted. This can make file management cumbersome, but we have a few recommendations to make it easier on you.
AirDrop - If your files are on a Mac laptop, airdropping the files to the computer you are working on is the quickest solution. The airdrop ID will be added to the front of each computer soon, but if you don’t see if, there is an asset tag on the back of the monitor that has the computer name on it.
External Drive (including HD and USB drives) - it is recommended to transfer your working files from external drives onto the local HD while you work on them to improve computer performance and reduce the risk of corrupting files. Don’t forget to save the new versions of your files back to your external drive, files left on AT2D Lab computers will be deleted periodically.
Cloud Storage - Adobe Creative Cloud is very convenient for working on AdobeCC files across multiple computers, but it doesn’t have the best uptime. Alternatively, all UofA students and faculty have a Box account registered with your UofA ID. Since you are logged into the computer using your UofA ID, it’s fine to stay logged into user accounts on the computer. Just remember to log out when you are finished using the computer.
